To find the value of 8 + 5, draw a hop from 0 to 8, move 5 steps forward from 8 and see where you land at. You should be at 13. So, we have 8 + 5 = 13.

## Subtraction Using Number Line

Number Line Subtraction: Drawing Hops

To solve 8 - 5, draw a hop to represent the first number 8. To find the difference, move 5 steps backward and see where you are. You should be at 3. So, 8 - 5 = 3
